COVID_19

Hello Lanistae Family,

We would like to reach out to our students and family and inform them that we will close the academy from March 16th to March 22nd. During this week closure we hope everyone takes the necessary precautions of social distancing and remaining as healthy as they. These are very conflicting times for all those in our community and the world. But one thing we can be sure about is that we, as the owners of Lanistae Academy truly want the best for everyone. We have never had to close the academy for this long for any reason, so this is very foreign to us. We always strive to keep the school open and functioning in some sort of manner- but as we have given this more thought, a closure does not mean we are being irresponsible owners. In fact, it means we are being responsible, caring and sensitive to all those around us. During this closure, we will also be self-distancing and deep cleaning the academy to prepare diligently for our reopening on March 23, 2020

Steps Moving Forward:

From our recent survey, we learned that you view the academy as "extremely clean" or "very clean" at a 98% vote. We appreciate the input and in an effort to make our environment even more clean and more health conscious, we will be cleaning the mats after every single class and cleaning the facility multiple times throughout the day.

Modified Schedule Structure:

Starting Monday March 23rd we will have a modified schedule to accommodate the following:

1) Smaller classes where students will need to reserve their spot ahead of time to attend a class

2) One-on-one training to minimize contact between people

3) Time between classes to adequately clean the mats.

* Please stay tuned for additional details with the revised schedule

It comes with great passion and care for our students that we remind everyone that we are a small business and in order to continue to be in business we need the students' support. We understand you may want to take a break or distance yourself from the community as you attempt to self-quarantine after our closure, but please remember- every account on hold puts the academy at a disadvantage as we still have to pay the rent, utilities, and other bills to keep our facility operating at the highest of standards for our students. If everybody puts their accounts on hold, you may not have an academy to come back to when things have subsided. If you feel the need to suspend your membership we will honor a one month hold for you. If you feel the need to hold your membership for longer than 30 days we will consider that a cancellation and you may sign a new membership if you decide to come back at a later time.

Friendly Reminders:
1) If you are feeling sick or show signs of having a fever, cough or runny nose please stay at home and rest.
2) Let's wash our hands for at least 20 seconds to avoid spreading any type of germs
3) Once we're all back to the academy and training, it is very important to remember to shower immediately and wash your gi after each training session.

* Even though we have always stressed these habits, it is more important than ever now

Additional Resources
One of the ways we improved the experience for our students was by launching our online curriculum for all fundamentals classes and advanced classes with new techniques being added daily. During this week closure and from here on out we hope everyone takes the time to sign up for the online library so they don't miss a beat- because we all know our lives are better with jiu jitsu! Let's not forget why we started training and the close relationships we gained from training together. If you are an Lanistae Academy student you can receive the fundamentals curriculum for FREE and you can also receive 50% off the Advanced Techniques as well. If you have not received an email from us, please reach out.

As you all know before the COVID-19 pandemic, Milton and I worked diligently to better the academy in multiple ways. We would also like to take this time to thank everyone for participating in our survey. We loved reading the positive answers and feedback from all the students.

Thank you for understanding as we work through this difficult time; and of course, thank you for your continued support of Lanistae Academy. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or suggestions in how we can better serves you.

With love,
Alex and Milton
